Anne Duffy

CEO, Community & District Nursing Association

Anne started her career in Mater Infirmorum Hospital Belfast, Northern Ireland. Following completion of training she moved to Dublin where she worked as a ward sister at Sir Patrick Dunns' Hospital.

Anne then moved to Londonderry Northern Ireland where she worked as a school nurse before taking a place at University of Ulster, Belfast Jordanstown, where she completed her Diploma in Community Nursing Specialising in District Nursing. She worked for the following years as a district nurse in Limavady, Strabone and Londonderry.

During this time Anne became a member of the CDNA and represented district nurses at the "Central Nursing Advisory Committee" at Stormont. She moved to England in 1997 where she worked as a Community Nurse Manager and Professional Advisor in Gloucestershire before working as a healthcare consultant with Intergraph Recal and then Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.

Anne took the position of Chief Executive of the Community & District Nursing Association in 2003 and she continues to enjoy the work and the people she meets on a daily basis as the CDNA goes from strength to strength.

Ann Keen MP

Parliamentary Under Secretary for Health Services
Ann was appointed as a MP for Brentford and Isleworth in 1997. Before her appointment to her current post she acted as Parliamentary Private Secretary for Frank Dobson when he was Secretary of State for Health. From 2001 Ann then acted as the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the then Chancellor the Right Honourable Gordon Brown before he became the Prime Minister.

Whilst in Parliament she has been a member of the Select Committee for Health and Secretary of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for breast cancer. She was Cancer BACUP's Parliamentarian of the Year.

Prior to being elected to Parliament, Ann was the General Secretary of the Community and District Nursing Association (CDNA) and Head of the School of Post Registration Nursing in Queen Charlotte's College of Health. She is an Honorary Professor of Thames Valley University.

Viv Bennett

Deputy CNO - England.

Viv was the Director of Nursing for South Warwickshire PCT before she was appointed to the post of Deputy CNO - England. Viv is passionate about community nursing issues and in her role as CNO takes special responsibility for care in the community and children.

Rosemary Cook CBE

Director Queen's Nursing Institute.

Rosemary trained as a nurse in Bradford and qualified in 1980. After working in hospitals in Bradford and Stafford she moved into primary care as a practice nurse in Stone. Rosemary later worked as a Nursing Officer in the Department of Health for 4 years, working on primary care, nursing roles, R&D and non-medical prescribing policies. Prior to her appointment in 2005 to the QNI, Rosemary led the working time directive programme for the NHS Modernisation Agency.

Rosemary holds a Masters Degree in Public Sector Management and Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Social Research. She is the author of numerous journal articles and several books, most recently "Awareness and Influence in Health and Social Care - How you can really make a difference" published in 2007.

Rosemary holds an Honorary Doctorate from Manchester Metropolitan University and is a Visiting Professor of Enterprise at Northumbria University.

Ursula Gallagher

Director of Quality, Clinical Governance and Clinical Practice at Ealing Primary Care Trust.

Ursula Gallagher is currently the Director of Quality, Clinical Governance and Clinical Practice at Ealing Primary Care Trust. Ursula has worked in a variety of clinical settings especially in the field of cardiorespiratory care. She was Deputy Director of Nursing at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital Trust and spent a period on secondment to the South East London Workforce Development Confederation.

Before that she worked for six years at Hillingdon Health Authority, including two years as Executive Director of Nursing and Service Standards. Ursula has been involved in the London Network, previously the London Standing Conference since its inception in 1998, and has been Chair of the Primary Care Group for much of this time. Ursula was Chair of the London Network for Nurses and Midwives from 2004 to 2007 and led the development of the Perceptions of Care work stream.

Ursula's main interests include professional leadership, developing new roles, and involving patients in the delivery of care.


Ursula Gallagher

James Davis

Jim Davis has been involved in patient care in different settings for over 24 years. He is a fire fighter/paramedic with the Columbus, Ohio, Division of Fire. He is a registered nurse with experience in the emergency department, ICU, toxicology, and currently as a rotor wing flight nurse with Medflight of Ohio. He worked in New Orleans and throughout the gulf coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

He has a master's degree in administration with a concentration in public administration and is active in labour-management. He is an adjunct faculty member at Columbus State Community College and sits on the Ohio board of emergency medical services, responsible for the education, discipline and clinical practice of Ohio's emergency medical technicians.
